JESUS CHRIST SAVES

There Is Only One Way to Get to Heaven

FOR THOSE WHO ARGUE THAT BAPTISM IS SOMETHING WE DO, AND THAT WE ARE SAVED BY GOD'S GRACE AND NOT BY ANYTHING THAT WE DO.

THIS IS TRUE, BUT WE HAVE TO GET BAPTIZED TO REACH GOD'S GRACE.

The Jews (Israel) were the chosen people. They entered into a covenant with God and became His special people, through whom the Messiah would come.

GENESIS 17:10
"This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee: every male among you shall be circumcised."

GENESIS 17:12
"And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any foreigner that is not of thy seed."

The covenant was shown physically through a physical nation by the act of circumcision.

GENESIS 17:11
"And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt me and you."

GENESIS 17:13
"He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant."

Any person of the nation of Israel who would not get circumcised broke God's covenant.

GENESIS 17:14
"And the uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant."

Anyone who was not circumcised, or in God's covenant, was unclean and cut off from the spiritual blessings God gave only to Israel. (Everyone, even the Gentiles and the Greeks, received God's physical blessings: warm sunshine, life-giving rain, air to breathe, etc.)

EXODUS 12:48
"And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to Jehovah, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: but no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof."

Any Jew who was not circumcised, or in God's covenant, was unclean and could not enter the holy city of Jerusalem.

ISAIAH 52:1
"Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean."

EZEKIEL 44:6-7
"And thou shalt say to the rebellious, even to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: O ye house of Israel, let it suffice you of all your abominations, in that ye have brought in foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to profane it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant, to add unto all your abominations."

God did require circumcision as their sign of the covenant.

The Jews should have also been circumcised in the heart, but most of Israel failed miserably. A second covenant was made between God and man, through Jesus Christ. The New Covenant is really the fulfillment of the covenant God made with Abraham. The sign of this covenant is baptism. Physical circumcision was no longer required or part of the covenant.

1 CORINTHIANS 7:18-20
Was any man called being circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Hath any been called in uncircumcision? Let him not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing; but the keeping of the commandments of God. Let each man abide in that calling wherein he was called.

GALATIANS 5:6
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith working through love.

GALATIANS 6:15
For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

Anyone who partakes of water baptism joins in the New Covenant and receives spiritual circumcision. This spiritual circumcision is of the heart and no longer of the body of the flesh. Physical water (water baptism) is used as a means to receive the spiritual circumcision.

GALATIANS 3:26-29
for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

COLOSSIANS 2:6-15
As therefore ye received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and builded up in him, and established in your faith, even as ye were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. Take heed lest there shall be any one that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ: for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, and in him ye are made full, who is the head of all principality and power: in whom ye were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ; having been buried with him in baptism, wherein ye were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. And you, being dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, you, I say, did he make alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses; having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us: and he hath taken it out that way, nailing it to the cross; having despoiled the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

ROMANS 2:28-29
For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh: but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

ACTS 10:47
"Can any man forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days."

The New Covenant is open to all, not just the Jews.

ROMANS 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Anyone (who has reached the age of accountability) who will not be baptized, or not partake in God's New Covenant, is still unclean and will not receive God's spiritual blessings. (Everyone, even the sinner, receives God's physical blessings: warm sunshine, life-giving rain, air to breathe, etc.)

Anyone who is not baptized and so is not spiritually circumcised, or not in God's covenant, is still unclean and cannot enter the new holy city of Jerusalem - which is the Church which will be in Heaven.

ISAIAH 52:1
"Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean."

REVELATION 21:10-11
And in the Spirit he carried me away to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.

God does require baptism as a sign of the New Covenant.
