GENESIS 2:20-25
And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This [is] now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
MARK 10:6-9
"But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."
MATTHEW 19:4-6
And he answered and said unto them, "Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."
ROMANS 7:2
For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to [her] husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of [her] husband.
Marriage is for life and not to be entered into lightly.
SEX IS RESERVED FOR MARRIAGE
1 CORINTHIANS 7:8-9
I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
1 CORINTHIANS 6:15-20
Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make [them] the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
When a man and woman marry, they gain the privilege of having sex. The act of sex is what makes a man and woman one flesh. Having sex before you are married would still make you one flesh.
GENESIS 4:1
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
The way to choose a husband is to learn his thinking about things and what kind of a person he is, not to see if he would be good in bed. Adam knew Eve his wife, which means that they had intercourse. But, Adam also knew everything about her - knew her thoughts and hopes. Having sex is not the way to find out if you love someone enough to think about marrying them. And, any couple that marries out of love will have a wonderful sexual relationship since sex is an outward expression of that love.
PROVERBS 5:18-19
Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. [Let her be as] the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
"The wife of thy youth" implies that they are old. Sex should not be limited to making babies. God also blessed us with the ability to give and receive sexual pleasure, and sex is the ultimate expression of love between a husband and wife.
VIRGINITY
1 CORINTHIANS 6:13
... Now the body [is] not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
1 CORINTHIANS 7:1-2
.... Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
In Old Testament times, if a woman was found to have sex outside of marriage, she would have been stoned to death (Deuteronomy 22:13-14, 20-21). Sex outside of marriage should still not be taken lightly.
It is sinful to not remain a virgin until you are married. The definition of a virgin is to be pure, untouched, and undefiled. Intercourse is not the only act that takes away virginity. And, even though you can be forgiven of losing your virginity, it can never be returned.
ABORTION
JEREMIAH 1:4-5
Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
God knows babies before they are born, even before they are conceived.
ROMANS 1:29-32
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
God puts those that are without natural affection toward their own children in the same category as murderers, fornicators, the wicked, and inventors of evil things.
A baby is God's creation and should not be thrown away. And, abortion does not undo the sin of fornication but adds more sin to it. An unwanted pregnancy may be one of the reasons that God wants you to save sex for marriage. A child should be conceived and raised in a loving marriage.
1 CORINTHIANS 7:4
The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
Many who proclaim that abortion is a woman's right to choose whether to remain pregnant or not do not take into account her husband's rights and his baby.
PSALMS 106:36-41
They served their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood. Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the harlot in their doings. Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage; he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them.
The Israelites in the Old Testament did not kill all of the enemy as God had commanded, and so the Israelites ended up serving their enemy's idols and sacrificing their sons and daughters. Most abortions are performed because of women serving their own idols of selfishness, convenience, vanity, personal freedom, or personal ambition.
A CHRISTIAN MARRIED TO A NON-CHRISTIAN
1 CORINTHIANS 7:12-16
But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such [cases]: but God hath called us to peace. For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save [thy] husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save [thy] wife?
1 PETER 3:1-2
Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation [coupled] with fear.
THE HUSBAND AND WIFE RELATIONSHIP
GENESIS 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire [shall be] to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
EPHESIANS 5:20-21
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
1 CORINTHIANS 7:33-34
But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please [his] wife. There is difference [also] between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband.
Married people try to please each other.
1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
JOHN 15:12
"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."
COLOSSIANS 3:8-9, 12-14
But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices.....
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
EPHESIANS 4:25-27, 29-32
Therefore, putting away falsehood, let every one speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
and give no opportunity to the devil. Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
PHILIPPIANS 2:14
Do all things without murmurings and disputings.
PROVERBS 5:18-19
Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. [Let her be as] the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
In the privacy of you and your husband is where you can and should get sexy.
1 CORINTHIANS 11:11
Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
EPHESIANS 5:32-33
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband.
THE HUSBAND IS OVER THE WIFE AND GOD IS OVER CHRIST, BUT WITH SUBJECTION REMAINS DIGNITY AND GLORY
PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;
And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
AS WITH BRETHREN, SO IT SHOULD BE WITH HUSBAND AND WIFE
1 PETER 3:8-12
Finally, [be ye] all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, [be] pitiful, [be] courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord [are] over the righteous, and his ears [are open] unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord [is] against them that do evil.
You should treat each other as nicely as you would treat brethren or a good friend - or sometimes even as nicely as you would treat a stranger.
THE WIFE
EPHESIANS 5:22-24
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in every thing.
COLOSSIANS 3:18
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
EPHESIANS 5:32-33
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband.
1 PETER 3:1-6
Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation [coupled] with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward [adorning] of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, [even the ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
Wives, be in subjection to your husbands. Submit to him as you do to Christ. It is no harder. If you submit to your husband and revere him, you will not be entering into a master/slave relationship. If you cannot or will not submit to your husband, you have not submitted to Christ.
HEBREWS 13:17
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that [is] unprofitable for you.
The two of you have become one, but there can only be one head on a body. Yield to him graciously, and the one body will be of benefit to you both. And, he has only your best on his mind. Submitting also does not mean that you do not have a right to opinions or feelings. Many decisions need to be discussed, but yield to his final decision. He is accountable to God.
PROVERBS 12:4
A virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed [is] as rottenness in his bones.
PROVERBS 19:14
House and riches [are] the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife [is] from the LORD.
PHILIPPIANS 4:11
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, [therewith] to be content.
HEBREWS 10:24
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
THE HUSBAND
EPHESIANS 5:25-31
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
EPHESIANS 5:32-33
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband.
COLOSSIANS 3:19
Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.
1 PETER 3:7
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
And in return, your husband is to cherish you, treat you better than he treats himself, love you more than his own body, provide for you, and honor you. You are the weaker vessel, to be defended and cared for, but you are an heir of the grace of life just as he is.
TITUS 2:6-8
Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine [shewing] uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
HEBREWS 10:24
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
ADULTERY
HEBREWS 13:4
Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
1 CORINTHIANS 7:2-5
Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except [it be] with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
To help stay faithful, you should not withhold sex or even affection out of anger or spite, or even when you are not truly in the mood. Loving each other physically will create the right mood. But, you should also respect each other's occasional need to abstain temporarily, especially during menstruation or after childbirth.
PROVERBS 5:3
For the lips of a strange woman drop [as] an honeycomb, and her mouth [is] smoother than oil:
PROVERBS 7:5
That they (the commandments) may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.
PROVERBS 7:21
With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
Adultery is not usually caused by physical desire - the harlot says sweet things to a man. Submitting to your husband, taking care of him and your children, serving wonderful meals, and not withholding sex and affection are not enough to make your husband happy and content if you constantly point out his faults but never give him compliments and support.
PEOPLE IN THE WORLD MAY NOT AGREE
ROMANS 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
1 JOHN 2:15-17
Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
